New generation of opener tech – DIY Install This product is the latest generation of opener technology from Chamberlain. It is extremely quiet and the warranty is fantastic (better than earlier generations). Please note that because this is a new generation, there WILL be compatibility problems with older generation openers. The remotes and remote keypad use Security+ 2.0 and the accessories use MyQ technology. This means that this opener will not work with previous generations of Chamberlain accessories, so be careful when purchasing them. Also, some reviews here that are not Amazon verified seem to not be for this unit and describe earlier generations. This unit is for 7′ tall doors (kits available for taller ones). Note that the model carried by Costco looks to have a similar model number (WD962KD) but it uses the older technology so the accessories/remotes are not compatible.

Tom Johnson says:

I like it ok now that I’ve addressed the glitches, but…. 1. This opener reportedly has a host of problems, not the least of which is opening by itself. At least one case resulted in the theft of very expensive garage contents. I don’t know why the Amazon reviews are so overwhelmingly positive. At first, my opener continually re-opened when I closed it; it wouldn’t stay shut, in other words. I eventually fixed that by adjusting the downward door travel, but I always lock it manually, with a padlock in an opener rail, overnight and when I’m gone. That said, I now like the opener ok, but am glad I saw the extensive negative feedback on one of Chamberlain’s so-called help sites.
